Dr Pepperell offers the full range of private lung function testing, respiratory diagnostics, advanced bronchoscopy and sleep laboratory services through Parkside Private Patient unit and at the Somerset Lung Centre and Musgrove Park Hospital TA1 5DA.

Dr Pepperell has been a full-time NHS consultant physician for 22 years. His undergraduate training was completed in Cambridge and London before training in anaesthetics, ventilation and intensive care medicine in Bristol and the South West. He completed his specialist training in Oxford following an extensive research fellowship at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals in sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease.

Dr Pepperell has developed advanced techniques in bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound and medical thoracoscopy for investigating all forms of lung disease. He runs a fully equipped sleep laboratory with the ability to run home multichannel video sleep studies. Spirometry simple lung function can be done at the Nuffield with Sleep studies and complex lung function testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, inhalational challenge testsing etc performed through Parkside Private Patient Wing / Somerset Lung Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital.

Special interests

Dr Pepperell has been secretary of the British Thoracic Society, on the Committee of the Royal College of Physicians, and representative Member on the NHS England Long term Plan Delivery Board. He has contributed to NICE guidance, Health Technology Authority appraisals, international respiratory medicine guidelines and NHS England Policies.

As former director of research for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, he has recruited thousands of patients to practice-changing clinical trials in sleep apnoea, COVID and lung disease. He has extensive experience in Medicolegal report writing for Asbestos-related lung disease, sleep disorders, personal injury and occupational lung disease.

Dr. Justin Pepperell is an NHS Consultant Respiratory Physician specializing in lung health and sleep disorders.

He sees Private Patients at the Nuffield Taunton Hospital with symptoms of cough, chronic chest infections breathlessness, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain, snoring and sleep disorders with some general medical referrals.
